The response time for ambulances in Denmark has in 2021 been reduced. This is because several regions experience problems because of a lack of crew members. Especially is in Region Hovedstaden and Region Midtjylland.
The lack of crew members is a greater problem in Region Hovedstaden, where it among other things is contributory to increasing the stress level with the paramedical students who are there today. The added stress level means among other things that many of the paramedics do not wish to continue at the capital’s Emergency department when the contract expires in February 2023. This can cost citizens dearly, in the end, since it may be contributory that the waiting time for an ambulance can rise.
In Region Midtjylland they experience similar problems, as they experience large delays in the response time in several areas in the region. The long response time has meant that a few areas have been obliged to take the case in one’s hand, and put together a “task force”, to be able to help. The region chairman thinks that the only way to improve the response times either will be fewer 112 calls or more money to increase the crew.
At Warning Systems, we work on a technology, which must be able to improve the response time for emergency vehicles. With Green Wave, we cannot directly influence the manpower problems they today experience in the regions. On the other hand, we may be able to improve the response time for the ambulances and help them reach the scene of the accident quicker.
